Can we really end poverty, true killing poverty, in our generation? Jeffrey Sachs thinks so! He makes a brilliant case in this book. Reading this book will inhance your world-view and help you understand what can be done to end poverty. Rich countries, like the United States must wage war on poverty on behalf of poor countries for dramatic results to occur and it must start with informed voting of concerned individuals. This is a somewhat difficult read for someone like myself who has no formal education about world economics, however, taking the time to read and sometimes reread sections in order to understand terms and ideas has been extremely informative for me. For a review of this book, a great discussion of poverty, and an interview by the author, I encourage you to listen to this sound byte by our favorite radio station NPR.
